heartfelt good morrow and welcome to Odin's Castle of Dreams & Legends. The pages that follow are dedicated to those of you who have dreamed, as I have dreamed, or longed for the days of long, long ago. A place that we can really only visit in our dreams and desires. A misty, mysterious time full of heroes, romance, chivalry, and legends. Wherever your interests lie, I hope that you may find what you seek here. If not, may you find the path here, that will lead you to that place where your dreams do lie.
Well, it is now well past mid-2005 and the Castle has just had its latest update. Hopefully, you will find no broken links or otherwise non-functional items anywhere in the Castle. Now just as surely as I say that, I or someone will find one. But overall, I think they will have to look awfully hard....... If, however, you do find any non-working ones, or if you have a site that you think would make a good addition to the Castle, then please let us know. There is an e-mail link on every page. One of the major updates has been to The Herbarium and the World of Brother Cadfael. I have made several changes and added a few things to make it look better. I would like to thank all of you, our Castle visitors, for making Odin's Castle as success. We are well on our way to the half million visitor mark and all the credit goes to you, our loyal fans, who have visited us often and have told your friends about it.
I have decided to leave this paragraph intact about the graphics in the Castle. I was going to take it down but knew if I did I would again begin receiving e-mails wanting to "borrow" nearly everything on the site. So, here is the paragraph on that subject: The question of asking to "borrow, copy, or otherwise use" the graphics at Odin's Castle. The answer in simple terms is NO. This is for several reasons. Firstly, it is not because I am a mean person. Actually, it is because I have worked very long and hard, years in fact, to make Odin's Castle a beautiful and truly unique place on the Internet. It would not stay that way for very long if I let everyone borrow or use the graphics that I have worked so hard to create. Secondly, although most of the graphics at the Castle are of my own creation, some have been given to me by artistic friends of mine, for my expressed personal use and my use only. I cannot, therefore, give anyone permission for their use. Still others, were given to me with no stipulations, however, since I am not the artist that created the graphic, I cannot give anyone permission to use it since it is not mine to give. That right and permission must come from the artist that created the work. So to save a lot of time, if you don't ask, I won't have to say no. The one exception to this rule is if you are wanting to use the Castle in a publication either on useful websites or for educational sites, these will be dealt with on a case by case basis. Other than this exception, no.
Again, just in case you missed it, to truly enjoy the look of Odin's Castle, you need to have the font Frazier Wide installed on your computer. Apparently, some of you have not been able to download the file properly. Therefore, I have changed it to a .zip file and now, hopefully, everyone can get the Fraser Wide font. To download and install the font, please follow these directions. First, click here. Save the .zip file to your hard drive. After download, unzip the file into any directory of your choice. It will appear as frasewir.ttf. To install, click on your Control Panel, go to the Install Font icon, select the directory where you saved the font, highlight it, and click install. The font will install on your computer. It will then display the proper font next time you visit. Or if you wish, you can download and install it now so you may enjoy the Castle's new look on this visit. Also, the Castle has been checked and should display properly in either Netscape or Explorer, from resolutions as low as 640x480 up to the widescreen versions as high as 1920x1200 without difficulty. Bigger than that and you're on your own.
The Most Lovely Lady Gwynnevere and I are now entering our the 6th year of our honeymoon. It shows no sign of ending and I have been truly blessed in this regard. I guess when you meet that special someone, that is what happens. If you think I am kidding, just visit the Chamber of the Bard and take a look at our poems to each other. It does indeed get better every day....... Unfortunately for me, work and life has interferred with my web surfing and there are not a whole lot of new links in the Castle. I do scribble them down when I find them, but just have not had time to surf for any of late. So if you find one you think would be great for the Castle, just drop me an e-mail and I will add it.
We did make a most enjoyable trip to Belgium in May of 2004. It was a fantastic trip and we had a wonderful time with family and friends. Lieve's brother Jan with a little help from her Aunt Marraine and Uncle Marcel, took us all over Belgium, visiting many beautiful cities, the coast, and places such as Bastogne, Dinant, Blankenberge, Leuven, Brussels, and Oostende. I think it was the most enjoyable time I have ever had in my life. It was truly wonderful. Sadly, it was just after this trip, a week after returning home that My Lady's father passed away, only surviving a little more than 7 months longer than her mother. He seemed fine to us, but he was not as well as we all thought. Sad, but we did get to see him on our trip, which did help to ease my lovely Lady's pain a bit. But we will remember the happy days, and they both will live forever in our memories.
Now, I bid you enter my castle. Visit its many rooms and see if you can find the vast treasures hidden within them. You are more than welcome to visit as many or as few as you may wish, and as often as you like. For in them, I hope that you find what your heart seeks to find, your very own special land of dreams and legends. Enjoy your stay in the Castle. I am well pleased that you are here. Welcome my friends. Now, let your journey begin. . . . . . . . . . .
